Circle came to us with a question more than a brief: how do you make a headquarters feel like the brand, not just display it? The answer became Portal, a living brand system installed in the lobby at One World Trade Center that evolves throughout the day in real time.
What made this project interesting from a production standpoint was the sheer range of disciplines it required. Creative, technical, architectural, and integration partners all had to move together toward something that had never quite been built before. With Gensler and specialist teams involved, my role was less about executing a known process and more about creating one. That meant establishing shared language across very different professional worlds, making sure a creative decision on one end didn't create an unsolvable technical problem on the other, and keeping the spatial reality of One World Trade Center in view at every stage.
The creative team owned the visual and design execution entirely, and the work they made is stunning. My focus was on building the production infrastructure around them, the pipeline, the partner coordination, the on-site installation logic, so that their vision could actually land in the space the way it was imagined.
Portal is now a permanent part of how Circle shows up in the world. For me it's a reminder that the best producing is often invisible: when the system works, what people experience is the work, not the effort behind it.
